This pottery is strong enough to use on the stovetop, oven or microwave. Chamba cookware heats evenly and is renowned for retaining heat.

Process: The women are in charge of grinding, kneading and shaping the clay, while the men get the firewood and do the burning in brick ovens. The potters wait next to the kiln for the final result, as in a silent ritual. Still hot, some pieces are worked with a special "blacking".
